Learning is not a straight line
Starry Mind Academy is an educational project dedicated to inclusive learning, giftedness and neurodivergence. It grows from a simple, deep conviction: every person learns in their own way, with their own pace, sensitivity and path.
We believe education's task is not to standardise, but to create the conditions for each person to flourish. Read our manifesto →
The four areas of our symbol, the circle divided into four, tell exactly this: four dimensions of learning that intertwine, curiosity, method, emotions and knowledge, because none truly grows without the others.
A way of being, not a label
Our view of giftedness and neurodivergence rests on the idea that these, like the different ways of learning, are not performances to measure but dimensions of the person to understand: marked by asynchronous development, intensity of feeling and a complexity that deserves attention.
In this we recognise ourselves, by theoretical and visional affinity, in the studies that read giftedness as a way of being, emphasising the uniqueness and complexity of the individual rather than mere achievement.
Our background
The path behind Starry Mind Academy combines specialist training and field experience:
- Specialist training in giftedness as Tutor for Intellectual Giftedness with IAG IntensaMente, Associazione Gifted.
- Training in gifted education at GERRIC, Gifted Education Research, Resource and Information Centre, University of New South Wales.
- Ongoing training Gifted, 2E Expert Teacher (Erickson), from September 2026.
- Years of experience in school, university, museum and library settings, in Italy and abroad, with experience also in training on wellbeing and inclusion in the workplace.
- Continuous professional development through international programmes on innovative teaching, artificial intelligence for education, critical and creative thinking, and inclusive leadership.
One particular focus runs through all our work: learning and development across the whole span of growth, from the early years to academic study and beyond. We have taken part in projects involving children as well as students, researchers and adults, because learning never ends.
Between practice and research
Over the years we have worked in diverse educational settings, developing a perspective that integrates direct observation and scientific depth. This double lens, hands-on experience with learners and attention to international research, guides every teaching resource and reflection we publish.
We are not alone
We believe in the value of the network. We collaborate with Centro EDUCasa, dedicated to supporting children and teenagers with SLD, ADHD and neurodivergence and to guiding families, with whom we share attention to autonomy, welcome and understanding of every individual.
We also weave informal relationships with many learning and education professionals, in an ongoing dialogue that enriches our work and our resources.
